本月初，上海新天地，徕卡相机中国首家官方专卖店盛大开幕，徕卡相机全球首席执行官Oliver Kaltner、徕卡相机全球监事会主席Dr. Andreas Kaufmann、徕卡相机大中华区董事总经理Siegmund Dukek都亲临现场，让我们全面感受到了百年光影世家的魅力。开幕之后，色影无忌专门邮件采访了徕卡相机产品经理主管Stefan Daniel，而我们也对徕卡相关产品与市场动态提出了大家关注的几个问题。

1) As we have noticed, several of the newly launched Leica 35mm cameras choose to use 24mp CMOS instead of Sony'sCMOS like other cameral manufacturing companies. 24mp CMOS are the products of CMOSIS, a company that even doesn’t have its very own factory. But it turns out that 24mp CMOS performs quite well, so can you talk to us about this kind of deep cooperation between Leica and CMOSIS?

Stefan Daniel：Leica is sourcing globally and uses a worldwide purchase network in order to secure high-quality components that are used in our premium cameras. Please kindly understand that supplier details are subject to confidentiality. However, regarding sensors, we can say that they are custom made to fit the requirements of for example the Leica M steep incident angle. This results in superior image quality, even with older Leica M lenses.

2) Companies including Sony and Canon have brought about a high-resolution battle of CMOS in the new era, and all their CMOS have reached 40 or even 50+MP. What’s your opinion on this? And does Leica have plans to research and develop its own CMOS?
色影无忌：索尼和佳能等企业带动一波新时期的CMOS“高像素之争”，各自的CMOS都迈向了4000万和5000万像素以上，您怎样看待这个问题？徕卡是否有关于自主研发CMOS的计划？
全套M系列旁轴价格不菲
Stefan Daniel：Leica’s developments are strongly focused on customer benefits. Currently, we are convinced that 24MP in full frame sensors provide great resolution, on top of that this pixel count enables us to have very fast and reactive cameras (Leica SL=11 fps). So for the foreseeable future, we do not aim to fight a “pixel battle”.
Stefan Daniel：徕卡相机的产品研发始终致力于关注用户利益。目前来看，我们确信2400万的全画幅CMOS图像传感器不仅提供了优质的分辨率，最重要的是该像素确保了相机本身的高速运作以及反应能力（徕卡SL系列：11张/秒）。所以在可预见的未来，我们不会参与这场“像素之争”。

3) Leica’s recent remaking of Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens has triggered extensive discussions among the netizens. So I want to know, could the remade products become an independent product line, such as the replicas of classics like the Summicron 35mm F2 lens?
色影无忌：近期贵公司复刻的Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6镜头引发了网友间广泛讨论，请问复刻版本Summaron会不会成为独立产品线，例如：复刻Summicron 35mm F2等经典镜头。

4) As I have noticed, CMOSIS has also developed its own Exmor R CMOS, so is there any plan to apply this Exmor R CMOS on Leica M TYPE240’s follow-up models? And the fact is the sensing area of Exmor R CMOS is much larger than that of the current Leica M TYPE240.
色影无忌：我注意到CMOSIS公司也有开发背照式CMOS，请问未来有没有计划在Leica M TYPE240的后续机型上使用这款背照式CMOS？事实上背照式CMOS的感光面积比现有的Leica M TYPE240感光面积要大很多。

5) As a partner of Leica, Japanese company Panasonic boasts rich and extensive experience in the image field, especially in motion video area and the DFD technology it has proposed is of great significance in improving the autofocus for mirror less cameras. Would this be of any help for Leica in developing relevant products?
色影无忌：贵司有一位来自日本的合作伙伴:松下，其在影像领域（特别是动态视频）有着丰富的经验。其提出的DFD技术对于无反相机的自动对焦有着很大帮助，这点是否对徕卡在开发相关产品上有帮助？

Stefan Daniel：The technology cooperation between Leica and Panasonic is currently celebrating its15 years of anniversary. Besides the compact camera business, we have a close partnership in various technology fields for the benefit of both companies. Please understand that further details are subject to confidentiality.

6) As far as I know, although Leica is world famous for its MF (Manual Focus) M Digital Rangefinder Cameras; it actually came up with AF (Auto Focus)-related patents during the time of Letiz. On Photokina 1976, Leica introduced a concept product which is called Correfot and in 1978, the company even rated SLR cameras with auto focus function. Digilux3, the product of cooperation between Leica and Panasonic also shows that Leica has always been attaching great importance to the autofocus technology, and as a matter of fact, Leica SL has also presented outstanding performance in AF among the same-type products. So can you talk to us about this? (Currently, MF and AF product lines are in parallel)

Stefan Daniel：It is true that Leitz pioneered the AF technology, but did not develop it into serial products. Today, AF technology is mandatory for many speed driven applications such as sports-, action and press photography. Leica boosts this technology in its Leica T, S and SL cameras. Manual focus is one of the key success factors of the Leica M System because the lenses do not need integrated drive motors and electronics. This allows the M system to be the smallest and most compact full frame system (cameras+lens) in the market.
Stefan Daniel：的确，徕卡相机曾于徕兹（Leitz）时期取得过自动对焦（AF）的相关专利，但最终并未开发成系列产品。如今，自动对焦（AF）技术已经是许多速度驱动的应用中不可或缺的一部分，比如：运动模式，动作模式以及新闻摄影模式。徕卡相机在徕卡T系列、S系列和SL系列的产品上都优化了这项技术，而手动对焦是徕卡M系列表现卓绝的关键因素之一，正因为它的镜头不需要驱动马达和电子元件。这也同样促使徕卡M系列成为市场上最小巧、最紧凑的全画幅相机（机身+镜头）。

7) Here is the final question. You know, the cooperation between Leica and Chinese phone company Huawei has taken many people by surprise. Could you please tell us what is the basis and driving force behind Leica’s selecting such a high-level crossover cooperating partner?
色影无忌：贵公司与来自中国的手机品牌——华为的合作让很多人感到意外。我想了解一下，徕卡对于挑选这种跨界程度较大的合作伙伴，是基于什么依据或者动力？

Stefan Daniel：Huawei and Leica have agreed on a long-term technology partnership for the development of camera modules for smartphones. The strategic alliance between Huawei and Leica Camera demonstrates the desire of two rapidly growing and globally active brands to continuously push the envelope of the technologically possible. In addition to innovative strength and premium standards, our two companies are united by the commitment to uncompromising quality. The technology partnership with Huawei offers Leica Camera an excellent opportunity to introduce its proven optical expertise into a new product segment and to unlock exciting business areas in the field of mobile devices. Smartphones make a very important contribution to the world of photography and open an important door for Leica to new target groups and fields of application. Huawei is a perfect partner and one of the leading providers of information technology and telecommunications solutions and currently the world’s third-largest smartphone manufacturer. The camera module of the Huawei P9 and the P9 Plus and the achievable picture quality is the result of intensive technological collaboration between Huawei and Leica. The aim of this is to raise smartphone photography to an entirely new level. The camera function is the most used smartphone application and our aim is to bring it up to the high standards demanded by the Leica product philosophy. We are convinced that our expertise gathered in decades of experience in optical engineering and optical design and the collaboration with Huawei as our partner can generate the best possible picture quality in the smartphone segment.

老实说，笔者和你们一样，对于这次采访中个别答案的略感失望，不过保持神秘感与产品严格的保密机制也是百年光学老厂徕卡的特色之一。目前哈苏X1D强势登场，富士也虎视眈眈瞅准了中画幅市场，各大相机品牌产品不断推陈出新，相机市场势必会再次迎来腥风血雨，徕卡未来将何去何从，让我们拭目以待。
